2016 District Annual Meeting
Saturday, March 5
“Where Do We Come From, What Are We, Where Are We Going?"
As change swirls around us in the national landscape of Unitarian Universalism, we gather as a district to – in the words of our familiar hymn – remind ourselves of where we come from, reaffirm what we are, and clarify where we’re going.
Join hundreds of fellow UUs from Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington for a day of reflection, inspiration, shared wisdom, and action, at our District Annual Meeting, hosted by University Unitarian in Seattle.
The Rev. Jon Luopa, Senior Minister at University Unitarian, will kick off the day with a keynote on the theme. Rev. Luopa will share his deep understanding of our Unitarian Universalist roots in a way that galvanizes us to action as a district, and in our own congregations.
Workshops presented by district board members and regional staff will equip you with concrete tools to take back to your own congregation. And there will be plenty of time for meeting new friends and reconnecting with others during ample breaks, and affinity group gatherings over lunch. We’ll also conduct the business of our district during our Annual Meeting. A closing gathering will help participants articulate ways to bring the day’s lessons to life back at home.
Those in town on Friday evening are invited to join District Board President Hayden Nevill (Fairbanks, AK) at University Unitarian Church for an informal evening of short social justice films, popcorn and cider, at no cost. Plans for Saturday evening gatherings are in the works. Sunday morning, the 9:30 and 11:15 services at University Unitarian Church will feature a sermon by Jon Luopa and music by the memorable Loft Choir and Bell Choir. Or you could attend services at Edmonds, Shoreline, East Shore (Bellevue), Northlake (Kirkland), Westside (West Seattle), Woodinville, Saltwater (Des Moines) or one of four other churches just a ferry ride to the west.
And if you're in the area on Sunday afternoon, you are enthusiastically invited to enjoy the Puget Sound Unitarian Universalist Music Festival, a worship service and celebration at the Kirkland Performance Center. Choirs from 17 UU congregations will perform after a full weekend of learning and practice together, featuring guest clinician the Rev. Jason Shelton. See the printable flyer here, or download the Order of Service insert to share with your own congregation.
