Interim Director of Religious Education

The Kitsap Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is seeking a two-year interim Director of Religious Education. KUUF is a lively, midsized congregation (240 members, 35 children average attendance) located on the scenic Kitsap Peninsula. Our program is well established and supported. We are looking for a person to help us develop a plan to grow this position from half time to full time and to adapt the position to support lifespan Religious Education Programming. This is a salaried position beginning August 1, 2009. We provide professional expenses, vacation/study leave, and salary in line with UUA guidelines for Fair Compensation. Director of Religious Education

Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church is seeking a Director of Religious Education. Northlake is a growing congregation (about 100 adult members and 25 children registered) in the artistic waterfront community of Kirkland, WA. Northlake is a Welcoming Congregation. A major campus expansion was completed in 2009 to provide excellent space for our growing programs and services. The person who will succeed in this position will be an energetic, creative, self-starting person with a sense of humor, who works well as a member of a ministry team in a very busy, active and vibrant congregation. This is a half-time, professional, salaried position. Evening meetings and work on Sunday are part of the job. The start date for this position is August, 2009. PNWD Volunteer Consultants

The Pacific Northwest District, UUA, is seeking to expand its volunteer consulting corps to serve member congregations in Washington , Oregon , Idaho and Alaska . Volunteer consultants receive mileage reimbursement at the current IRS volunteer rate, honoraria according to the current fee schedule (see http://www.pnwd.org/pdfs/currentfeesheet.pdf), and continuing education supported by the District. Consultants volunteer their time to participate in orientation and training meetings, and to prepare for and travel to and from assignments.

Qualifications include demonstrated experience in the area of consulting specialty, exceptional written and oral communications skills, outstanding organizational and presentation skills, and ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality. Consultants must enjoy working with people and have a deep commitment to Unitarian Universalism. Creativity, innovation and flexibility are particularly valued. Youth and others interested in developing their leadership skills are encouraged to apply as Consultants-in-training.

PNWD Consultants commit to (1) attending required orientation and ongoing training meetings, (2) submitting written reports as required, (3) providing timely and appropriate communications with the District Executive, Program Specialist and/ or others related to the work, (4) accepting facilitation assignments as needed, in rotation with others, and (5) serving for at least three years. District Consultants must be members in good standing or affiliated religious professionals of PNWD congregations.

Consulting services may be on-site or by phone or email. Email connection, ability to use Internet resources, and commitment to timely response are required. Where possible, consultants will be assigned within their geographic areas. PNWD consulting services are made possible through the voluntary service of the consultants and the shared contributions of member congregations to District dues and the UUA Annual Program Fund.

  • Meeting facilitators
  • Stewardship trainers (Generosity as a spiritual practice, every-member canvass, capital campaigns readiness assessments)
  • Financial systems and auditing, including bookkeeping software
  • Facilities development (getting ready for building or expanding your church home, maintenance planning, developing building-use policies)
  • District Annual Meeting (AGM), ongoing oversight and work with local host committees
  • Church staff/ Human Resources
  • Congregational Consultants - Portland/ Vancouver area, East of the Mountains area (check-in contacts & general resource advisors)
  • Vision/ Mission/ Ministry
  • Communications - web and print, news reporters, PR/ Marketing
  • Geek Squad - computer technology advisors
  • Church program development and assessment
