Facilitator: The Rev. Dr. Marilyn Sewell is an accomplished Unitarian Universalist minister, writer, activist, and spiritual leader. She retired from parish ministry in 2009, after serving 17 years as the Senior Minister of the First Unitarian Church of Portland, Oregon, and was named Minister Emerita.
Summary: This three-part series is for ministers or lay members who have been charged by their minister or governing board to research, establish, and/or strengthen a volunteer pastoral care/visitation program. Participation in all three workshops is encouraged but not required.
Part One: Jan 19, 2012 7 PM -Structuring Pastoral Associate/Lay Ministry Programs-What needs are served by these programs? How do they work? How is being a Pastoral Associate or Lay Minister different than being a minister, counselor, or friend? How does confidentiality work? An introduction to the basics.
