BOARD MEETING CANCELLED. SATURDAY'S LEADERSHIP COUNCIL WILL BE HELD AS SCHEDULED.
Finding Balance at the Center of our Faith: I, We and Thou
As Unitarian Universalists, our liberal faith often calls us in many directions. Prophetic, spiritual, and communal obligations can seem to pull us apart, competing with one another for our attention. What if we understood these concerns as all of a piece; what if we placed our desire for individual fulfillment, our hope for loving community, our quest for a peaceful and just world as necessary spokes around the wheel of living a life of larger purpose? How do I live, (Who am “I”), in the midst of personal and religious communities (Who are “We”), in a way that takes us beyond ourselves in harmony with a greater good (Who or What is our “Thou”)?
Through conversation, exercises and exploration, Terasa will help us look individually and collectively at our lived faith, as religious leaders. How do we find inspiration within our tradition to nurture our core spiritual desires? What kind of community can we create that is open and inviting as well as warm and connected? How do we serve a vision of justice in the world and be respectful of others with different beliefs? These are all calls for balance in our lives and in our religion.
Designed for congregational board members, lay leaders and professional staff. Board president or designee, RSVP as a congregation to the District Office by October 31.
