Facilitator Webinar Dates
September 16, 2014, 1-2:30 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST)

September 30, 2014, 8-9:30 p.m. EST
If your OWL program begins in September or October, you may start with the 1st edition and migrate into the 2nd edition content when it arrives, since Workshops 1-5 in the 2nd edition are very similar to those in the 1st edition. If you begin your OWL program in November or later, you may not need to adjust your schedule.
Parent Orientation: You may need to delay your program start if you wish to have the revised curriculum in hand during the Parent Orientation. Another option is to present the orientation session on the usual date, sharing the new Table of Contents and giving descriptions of the entirely new workshops. These descriptions will be posted on the OWL page of at www.UUA.org/re/owl in the What’s New area. Assure parents that they may review the 2nd edition when it arrives.
Sexuality and Our Faith (SoF): If you do not have the revised edition of SoF in hand at the start of your OWL program, your facilitators can use much of the 1st edition content with OWL workshop topics that appear in both the 1st and 2nd editions of OWL. A workshop on pornography is included in the revised edition of SoF, rather than OWL. If your congregation wishes to offer this workshop, please add it to your calendar after OWL Workshop 18 (2nd ed.), and discuss the workshop during the Parent Orientation. Parents will be able to read the workshop plan upon publication of Sexuality and Our Faith 2nd ed.
OWL Changes: There are now 7 units instead of 11, and the units are comprised of 25 workshops rather than 27. If you add the Sexually Explicit Media workshop, the workshop total is 26. Please note that some workshops focus on topics that were not in the 1st edition. Most of the other workshops have new approaches and activities. The gender and orientation language has been updated throughout."
